Test tube Tommy au: if all he's ever known are the scientists who made him, and were probably not exactly kind to him, how does Tommy react when he wakes up go find new, completely different "scientists" holding him?

You see that's the thing- although the scientists hurt him, they're litterally all he's known, so he's grown up being taught that it's normal to be hurt, that if he does what they expect/want they'll be happy and he did good! So for Tommy- he has fucking Stockholm syndrome when it comes to humans, he trusts them completely when seeing them and immediately wants to cling to them and do what they tell him to- and although he does go by he/him eventually in this au, growing up he was taught to go by it/it's, but he didn't choose that, he just thought it was okay and that's what he was supposed to do because that's how he was raised (there's nothing wrong with choosing to go by it/it's pronouns, if you do you are 200% valid- but the difference here is that Tommy didn't choose to go by it/it's and the scientists were calling him that because they didn't see him as a person)

So because of this- he just clings to Dream's hand and waits for the next experiment to do to make Dream and Sapnap happy- because that's what he was taught growing up. He doesn't know any better because he never got the chance to think of himself as anything more then just a test subject

So this au is mainly gonna be Dream and Sapnap teaching Tommy that it's not okay to not be scared of pain, that it's not okay for him to want people to tell him what to do, and that Tommy is his own person and can make his own choices

(test tube Tommy) Dream: "ah yes, a tiny baby brother"

THAT'S IT

That's the entire au in a nutshell-

Idea: test tube Tommy is one of the many experiments in a lab. Something happens and the lab is destroyed, and everyone evacuates. But they don't take all of the experiments with them, so Tommy is left behind, alone in his test tube. That is, until someone stumbles upon the destroyed lab...

They were trying to clone Dream (fuck everyone- I like the theory of Dream clone Tommy more then Phil clone Tommy-) but with the limited amount of DNA they had, and the very small amount of stem cells (you clone things using stem cells from the original organism- I know science) they had gotten from Dream from a hunter that cut him- they weren't able to make a proper big enough clone that would age fast enough to be able to properly catch Dream. So, for now they just kept the child in a test tube, it was good enough to keep it alive for testing, and it was easy to feed it like this as well.

One day though, the lab catches on fire, no one is quite sure why (Sapnap) but they all run, making sure to collect their data on flash drives as they escape- leaving behind anything alive to die. Luckily, Tommy's test tube had a filter on the top that made sure no smoke got inside (the filter was so in case any chemical fumes got near him, he wouldn't breath it in and they wouldn't loose they're best test subject) and he survived

After the fire is gone and the people are out, Dream and Sapnap go inside to see what this lab was really up to (after hearing word that they'd been trying to catch and kill Dream). They explored for a bit, reading over the few papers that didn't burn ("I told you fire was overkill-"), until they finally came to a room that was filled with the scent of burned flesh and fur- and when they went inside they could see why. There were loads of live specimen in the room that had been abandoned to burn in the fire, and all of them were dead. It was the most disturbing thing in the fire and they were ready to just leave but-

But then they heard crying. Dream was the first to walk into the room and follow the sound, and Sapnap hesitantly followed after. It took them awhile to see what the sound was coming from because they were not expecting a tiny kid inside a test tube. The child looked starving, pale, and very malnourished, it was obvious they weren't healthy. Both Dream and Sapnap decided then and there they hated these scientists, and grabbed the test tube.

They left the building and got the kid out, they were gonna let the little guy go but- he clung to one of Dream's fingers and he couldn't bring himself to pull the kid off. So for now, the child would just stay with Sapnap and Dream
